Torsion Springs ▼
Torsion springs, also known as helical torsion springs, are designed to store rotational energy and exert torque when rotated. The active component is a helical coil of spring wire, and the ends (legs) are designed to transfer torque and interface with the application’s abutments.
In many applications, two torsion springs may be required: one right-hand coiled and one left-hand coiled. In some cases, these can be combined into a double torsion spring, which integrates a right-hand and left-hand coil into a single spring body, offering balanced torque distribution and compact assembly.
Standard torsion springs are supplied with straight legs, but we can also manufacture springs with custom bends or hooks to suit your application. Springs can be designed in a wide range of wire diameters, coil diameters, leg lengths, and torque ratings to meet specific requirements.
Applications
Torsion springs are widely used in mechanical assemblies where rotational movement and torque are required, including:
- Clips, clamps, and hinges
- Door and lid mechanisms
- Automotive components and controls
- Industrial machinery
- Electrical switches and assemblies
- Counterbalances and spring-loaded levers
Custom Torsion Springs
If the standard torsion spring range does not meet your needs, we can manufacture springs to custom specifications. Options include:
- Custom coil diameters and wire sizes
- Right-hand, left-hand, or double torsion configurations
- Legs with straight, bent, or hooked ends
- Specific torque requirements and spring rates
