Single Torsion Springs ▼
Single torsion springs, also known as helical torsion springs, are designed to store and release rotational energy. They consist of a helical coil of spring wire with two legs that extend from either end of the coil. When the legs are rotated around the centre axis of the spring, torque is generated as the spring attempts to return to its original position.
In operation, the legs are typically positioned against external components within an assembly, allowing the spring to apply resistance or return force during rotational movement. Torsion springs are widely used in mechanical systems where controlled rotational force and compact spring design are required.
Many applications require either a right-hand or left-hand wound spring depending on the direction of rotation. In some cases, paired springs may be used together to provide balanced loading within the mechanism.
